Venue: Camden Palace Hotel
The Deja View Screening Club at Camden Palace Hotel (local arts community centre, not really a hotel) is showing the best of independent, underground and cult classic movies every Wednesday at 8pm.
The films chosen for Cork Photo 2016 reflect the long and complicated relationship between photography and cinema. David Campany states, “the rise of cinema obliged photography to make a virtue of its own stillness. Film, on the other hand, envied the simplicity, the lightness, and the precision of photography”.
Some argue that photography and film are independent and therefore cannot be compared. However, close-ups, freeze frames and the countless portrayals of photographers on screen are signs of cinema’s continuing attraction to the still image.
